Introduce the Speaker Well
Speakers should provide their own introductions. Reading a resume or a long list of credentials is not an introduction. The introducer should be someone who is comfortable speaking in front of an audience. She should receive the speaker's introduction in advance to get familiar with it. At the meeting, she should read the introduction exactly as it is written. Ad lib may ruin the speaker's opening.
Prepare the Room
Communicate with the speaker in advance about how to set up the room, make sure it is prepared accordingly, and verify that all the equipment is working well in advance if the start of the meeting. If there are any important changes, make sure you tell the speaker about them.
Stay on Time
Start on time and end on time. If you start late, you may impact the speaker's presentation and force her to cut it short. If you end late you may cause delay to the next program or cause delays for the attendees. Most speakers will accommodate you if changes are needed, but you should tell them as early as possible. If the program will include a question and answers, make sure you budget enough time.
